The Case

 

This case challenged AXA/Equitable's imposition of what is called the '200% cap' on its contribution to retiree health benefits, and further challenged AXA Equitable's elimination of certain health care coverage options.    

These claims were brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and were based upon the allegation that AXA implemented these changes without properly amending its health care benefit plan for retirees. 

AXA denies that it violated the ERISA.
