Deborah Rookey is a Staff Attorney at Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky LLP in the firm’s Business Litigation and Competition practice group.
Ms. Rookey graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 2022. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rookey worked as an immigration attorney representing youth in federal detention. She is admitted to practice in Michigan and is registered to practice before the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
In law school, Ms. Rookey was a Contributing Editor for the for the Journal of Law Reform, as well as a Founding Senior Editor for the Journal of Law and Society. She represented parents of young children experiencing housing and educational issues during the COVID-19 pandemic through Michigan’s Pediatric Advocacy Clinic, and represented survivors of Human Trafficking in criminal and immigration matters through Michigan’s Human Trafficking Clinic.
Prior to law school, Ms. Rookey worked on Capitol Hill as an advocate for international humanitarian aid and peace-based conflict resolution. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities Studies, where she gained Great Departmental Distinction for her thesis on American Sign Language Poetry.
