Attention: New York Live-Event Fans

Did ticket scalpers drive up the price you paid for LIVE EVENTS?
If you bought secondhand/resale tickets for a concert, sporting event, Broadway show, stand-up comedy, or other live event in New York, you may have paid more than you should have. The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that large-scale ticket scalpers illegally purchase huge numbers of tickets to thousands of concerts and events, before fans have a fair chance to buy them, driving up the resale price.
Alleged DECEPTIVE ticket reselling using illegal methods to bypass ticket limits.
The Department of Justice, working with the Federal Trade Commission, alleges that professional ticket scalpers have used fake accounts and other methods to evade purchase limits, buying large quantities of tickets to concerts and events from Ticketmaster, AXS, and other issuers before ordinary fans get a fair chance to buy the tickets. New York has banned ticket-buying software that circumvents limits since 2010, and the federal government also makes it illegal to circumvent limits, but the illegal bulk purchases persist.
