Edward Batten is an accomplished and experienced civil litigation attorney specializing in complex litigation, with an emphasis on commercial and pharmaceutical cases. He currently practices in the Houston office of Schneider Wallace. During his legal career, he has successfully represented clients in multi-million dollar controversies in state and federal court.
Mr. Batten is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas. He is licensed to practice law in both the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas federal court and in all Texas state courts.
Mr. Batten was born in Norfolk, Virginia and attended the United States Naval Academy, where he studied military science and was a member of the Naval Academy’s fencing team. While at the Naval Academy, Mr. Batten finished in second place in Maryland’s state-wide Men’s under-20 fencing competition and was selected to compete in the Fencing component of the United States Junior Olympics competition.
Mr. Batten completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, earning Dean’s List Scholar honors before relocating to Austin, Texas to attend the University of Texas School of Law. While in law school, he successfully participated in Texas’ acclaimed Advanced Civil Litigation program and the law school’s specialized courses in Mass Tort and Class Action lawsuits.
Mr. Batten has been practicing civil litigation since 1999 and has practiced both internationally and domestically, engaging in several areas of law including Mass Tort and Class Action lawsuits, Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, and Maritime Law.
