Many of the San Francisco Unified School District's (SFUSD) schools were not compliant with the American's with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines, so many children with mobility impairments were unable to enjoy full and equal access to a public education.
Summary
Schneider Wallace Cottrell Brayton Konecky attorneys, with co-counsel Jose R. Allen and the Legal Aid Society - Employment Law Center, sought to remove the physical barriers that prevent San Francisco's disabled students from enjoying the full and equal benefits of San Francisco's public education system as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As a result of this class action, filed by Schneider Wallace Cotrrell Brayton Konecky, The district agreed to make its schools accessible to disabled children.
Result
The court granted final approval of the class action settlement, which requires the SFUSD to make architectural changes to many of its schools.
