Situation
A Hispanic South San Francisco police officer claimed he was subjected to a racially hostile work environment and disparate treatment during his four years on the force. The police department’s attorneys argued that the plaintiff's claims were unfounded.

Summary
Officer Molieri worked for the South San Francisco Police Department. He claimed he was treated differently because of his race. Specifically, he claimed he was terminated, based on trumped-up charges of improper use of force, because he is Hispanic.

Officer Molieri appealed his termination to the State Personnel Board, which subsequently overturned his termination. After he returning to duty, following the verdict, Officer Molieri was shunned by his fellow officers, and, he alleged, they also refused to back him up in life-threatening situations.

Result
Todd Schneider won a $1.9 million jury verdict after a two month trial.
