Founded in 2008, the Scottsdale, Arizona office of Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky Wotkyns LLP focuses on servicing institutional clients in both the private and public sectors, as well as representing investors and other financial services consumers in class action matters and FINRA arbitrations. 


The firm’s Arizona’s office currently leads the firm’s litigation in numerous matters, including representing the City of Phoenix in its litigation against the major bond insurance companies, a major community bank chain in the Midwest in a FINRA securities arbitration against its broker-dealer, a large health insurer seeking recovery of monies expended in insurance reimbursements for its insureds on a particular allegedly defective medication, and several public financing districts who have sued major investment banks seeking relief from alleged manipulation by those banks of the market for auction rate bonds.


The Arizona office is managed by Garrett Wotkyns, who is the head of the firm’s financial services practice and consumer class action practice.  Mr. Wotkyns is a frequent speaker and continuing legal education instructor concerning class action and financial services litigation. He has served as a faculty member for the Practicing Law Institute’s (“PLI”) Consumer Financial Services Institute, and he has contributed articles to the textbooks the PLI generates incident to that project.  A continuing legal education (“CLE”) instructor at banking-related CLE events sponsored by the State Bar of Arizona, Mr. Wotkyns has served as a CLE instructor at concerning predatory mortgage refinancing issues and reverse mortgage lending at the Legal Assistance for Seniors 4th Annual Elder Abuse Conference held in Oakland in 2008.  In 2008, the Arizona Volunteer Lawyers Program gave him its "For Love of Justice" award in recognition of his volunteer work assisting Arizona homeowners fighting foreclosure.  Mr. Wotkyns is currently theChairperson of the Business Torts Section of the American Association for Justice. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of The National Trial Lawyers’ Business Tort Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Wotkyns received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rice University, where he graduated magna cum laude, and received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a staff member of The University of Chicago Law Review.  Following law school, Mr. Wotkyns served for a year as a law clerk to the Honorable John M. Duhe, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and worked for five years in the Washington, DC, office of O'Melveny & Myers LLP.
